Extensive in-depth experience across spacecraft life cycle, from requirements definition, to building and managing engineering teams, risk management and mission assurance assessment.

As 24-year NASA contractor, held senior mission roles and was honored to serve on multiple NASA missions including: LCROSS (Lead Risk Manager), LADEE (EGSE Safety Engineer), GeneSat (Chief Systems Engineer) and O/OREOS (Project Manager)

At Hera Systems, led multiple awarded patents for proprietary design elements of super resolving earth observation nano-satellite.

Consultant to Facebook Connectivity Lab for communication satellite constellation analysis.

General (ret.) Lance W. Lord serves as Chairman, Hera Systems Advisory Board, where he plays an instrumental role in advising and guiding future corporate strategies.

Gen. Lord brings leadership experience earned through a distinguished 37-year career in the U.S. Air Force, including Commander of Air Force Space Command (AFSC), responsible for ballistic missile combat capabilities to North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Strategic Command.

Founder of L2 Solutions, Chairman of OmniTeq, headquartered in Bee Cave, TX.

Grant has served on the board of Space Foundation since 2014 and was elected as Vice Chairman in 2019.
He retired as Sector Vice President and General Manager of Space Systems at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, where he was responsible for providing space solutions for civil, military and restricted customers. Grant also held responsibilities for acquisition and execution of all space programs for restricted customers, including the design, build, launch and operations of major systems, as well as managing new business for those customers.

Prior to joining the private sector in positions with Astrolink and TRW, Grant served for 21 years at the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in positions at the CIA/National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Directorate of Science and Technology, and Directorate of Intelligence, Office of Scientific Intelligence. During 18 years at the NRO, Grant served as program director for satellite, launch and ground segment development, and was also the Chief Systems Engineer for two space intelligence collection projects.

In addition to his position with the Space Foundation, Grant also serves on the Board of Trustees of The Aerospace Corporation. During his career, he has received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Intelligence Medal, the Intelligence Medal of Merit and CIA Engineer of the Year. Grant earned his B.S. in Ocean Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology.
